Description
Although space and authorship are virulent, the two concepts have not been combined until now. Approaching her topic from an »author geography« angle, Alexia Pooth for the first time connects the process of becoming and rendering as an artist with the production of spaces such as stage, landscape, interior, and region. The starting point for this reflection is the self-taught U.S. artist Charles Henry Phillips (1889-1975). By reference to his estates situated in the U.S. and Europe, the study focalizes stylization and placement processes of art and artistry and traces the local myths and codes which contribute to training and assessment of authorship.
