Due to the collage’s omnipresence in cultural activity, its importance for artistic development, and its image as culturally contemporary, the collage proves itself to be a suitable starting point for a copyright specific examination of two significant issues: on the one hand, the definition of an artistic work under copyright law and on the other hand, the problems that the collage artist faces due to the fact that the borrowed art used in the collage is inevitably protected as an artistic creation under copyright law.
