Abstract

The solid-state conversion method was modified by constraining the formation of a PbO-rich liquid phase along the interface between the growing single crystal and PMN-PT ceramic precursor. The single crystals grew perpendicular to the (111) plane of PMN-PT single crystal seed and were surrounded with three (100) variety planes, resulting a shape of truncated tetrahedron. Their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were measured. The results indicate that the single crystals have dielectric and piezoelectric properties comparable to those of the single crystals grown via the conventional Bridgman method.
