Abstract
Advanced launchers of quasi-optical mode converters fed by rotating high-order gyrotron modes employ wall deformations to pre-shape the rf field in order to avoid diffraction losses. The in-waveguide mirror concept separates transverse and axial millimetre-wave beam shaping, the mirrors having azimuthal or axial deformations only. A numerical technique based on the boundary element method will be presented to analyse the transverse field evolution due to azimuthal wall deformations. The transverse beam properties can be evaluated by this method.
