Abstract

A layerwise finite element formulation is developed for the analysis of laminated shell structures bounded with piezoelectric rings. The cylindrical shell is actuated with piezoelectric rings and subjected to axisymmetric dynamic load. The 3-D governing equations are reduced to 2-D differential equations and the resulting equations are solved by finite element in axial direction. The numerical examples are presented for laminated shell with piezoelectric rings. The results for static loading and the natural frequencies are compared with the solutions of similar problems in the literature.
