Abstract

SUMMARY Henri Michel (1885-1981), collector and connoisseur maintained an extensive international correspondence concerning scientific instruments. His archive includes letters to and from all the leading specialists between c. 1933 and c. 1975. It is therefore an important source for a period that coincides with the formation of several major collections and the publication of important reference works. The archive of this pioneer student of instruments includes over 500 letters, four notebooks and a set of photographic plates.
