Abstract
Addenda and revisional information on distribution and systematic status of species are provided for the recent catalog of Nearctic Tabanidae by Stone et al., Agr. Res. Serv., USDA, 1965. In addition, described as new are Hybomitra fattigi from Georgia highlands, Stenotabanus (Aegialomyia) pechumani from southern Texas and Vera Cruz, Mexico, and (for comparison) S. (A.) aberrans from Ecuador. Other new species from the Neotropical fauna are: Apatolestes belkini from Baja California; Esenbeckia weemsi and Tabanus monokini from Sinaloa, Mexico; T. ebeneus from Guatemala and Panama; Dichelacera (Psalidia) bella from Guatemala; D. (P.) crocata from Monterrey, Mexico; and Stibasoma bifenestrata from Nicaragua. New Nearctic synonymy includes: Hamatabamus carolinensis (Macquart) (=Tabanus frater Kröber, mislabeled Brazil); Tabanus maculipennis Wiedemann ( = T. imitans var. excessus Stone; T. imitans Walker is reduced to a variety of maculipennis); T. lincola F. (= T. floridamis Szilády; transferred from synonymy with T. nigrovittatus Macquart). T. sordidus Walker (mislabeled New Zealand) will become the prior name for a member of the closely knit Nearctic Hybomitra affinis group to be decided later. Reduction of Glaucops to a sub-genus of Tabanus is discussed; T. fratellus Williston is the only Nearctic representative. Designation of a lectotype from the Orient for T. indicus F. preserves a well-known Neotropical name, T. lincola var. carneus Bellardi.
