Abstract
The mycangia of Trypodendron betulae Swaine and T. retusum (LeConte) are described and characterized with microphotographs. The mycangia are the prothoracicpleural type and are similar to the mycangia of other species of Trypodendron. It was hypothesized that the secretions into the mycangium contribute to the “ambrosia cell” growth form in the symbiontic fungi.
