Abstract

We report the unusual occurrence of Terson syndrome related to subdural hemorrhage. A man suffered penetrating craniocerebral trauma and underwent emergency surgery to remove a knife from his temple. A subdural hematoma also was drained. Three days after surgery, an ipsilateral vitreous hemorrhage was clinically and ultrasonographically diagnosed. The neurologic outcome was satisfactory, and vitreous bleeding spontaneously cleared within 3 months. After post-traumatic raised intracranial pressure, if delayed visual loss occurs, an ophthalmic examination must rule out Terson syndrome.
