Abstract
Before the development of macular hole surgery, no treatment options were available to patients with this condition. However, many patients can now attain relatively good visual acuity after surgery. Although successful anatomical and functional outcomes may not always occur in patients with diabetic retinopathy, this article reports a case of a patient with a macular hole and proliferative diabetic retinopathy who underwent macular hole surgery with successful anatomical and functional outcome.
