Abstract
The relationships between oven-dry weight distribution of foliage and characteristics of the three last-formed annual increment sheaths of five, 50-year-old Pinus resinosa Ait. trees were examined. Widths, areas and volumes of the rings and their component earlywood and latewood zones were determined for each stem internode. In addition an area-index of wood increment was considered. In gross terms increment variables correlated with crown size and shape. Local variations in crown distribution were not reflected in amount or distribution of xylem laid down.
