Abstract
This paper presents a sample size table for forest sampling which expresses sample size as a function of coefficient of variation and percentage sampling error. Sample sizes are calculated using iteration on a formula for simple random sampling. The iterative algorithm commonly used in forestry to calculate sample size is demonstrated to not always converge. A corrected iteration scheme is described and used to construct the table. Examples are included for illustration. Forest Sci. 28:777-784.
