Abstract
The Forestry Division of Food and Agriculture Organization in the United Nations is committed to help all countries desiring aid to survey their forest resources and work out policies for long-term use on a sound basis. Preliminary to such aid it is necessary to collect information generally on the forests and their use in several countries. Herein the author reports on a quick trip around South America in which he visited eleven countries. Though vast difficulties must be overcome he is optimistic over the future development of the forests of our southern neighbors. The need for technical aid is vast. Much it is felt can be accomplished by working with the several governments through the Food and Agriculture Organization.
