Abstract
Concern about reforestation and to some extent about the financial viability of forest management on private land stimulated passage of Public Law 96-451, which includes tax incentives for reforestation. An economic analysis that measures the impact of the incentives on present net worth, cash flow, and internal rate of return under various landowner and forest situations indicates that the incentives wall improve forestry's competitive positions with respect to other long-term capital investments.
