Abstract
Allergic rhinitis and asthma are both systemic inflammatory disorders with similar pathophysiological mechanisms involving numerous cells and inflammatory mediators. Some airway remodeling also might exist in allergic rhinitis. This review has summarized selected investigative studies from our division and has addressed the effect of various therapeutic agents on nasal fluid, nasal and airway epithelial cells, and the concept of airway remodeling.
