Abstract

A macrocyclic heterodinuclear complex [Cu(II)Mn(II)L(H 2 O) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 2 was synthesized by cyclo-condensation of N , N ′-bis(3-formyl-5- n -butylsalicylidene)-ethylenediimine and diethylenetriamine in the presence of Cu 2+ and Mn 2+ . The crystal structure of the complex was determined. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibilities and cyclic voltammograms of the complex were measured. [Cu(II)Mn(II)L(H 2 O) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 2 displays very strong antiferromagnetic exchange and undergoes a one-electron transfer process.
