Abstract
The impact of otoacoustic emissions in clinical practice spans a period of almost 30 years during which several important questions have been raised relative to the improved quality of the responses, the possible detection of hearing threshold, etc. In the last decade technological advances in the field of electrophysiology have provided new procedural methodologies which can be used as additional tools in otoacoustic emission testing. The purpose of this technical note is to provide a broad introduction to the technical trends we are now experiencing in clinical audiology.
