Abstract
Morphological examination and measurements of life cycle stages of cereal cyst nematode populations collected from widely separated parts of Australia failed to show differences distinguishing them from Heterodera avenae Woll. A yellow phase during cyst maturation and blackening of infection sites on mature cereal plants was observed. Both occurred with a population from Woburn, England as well as with Australian populations. An underbridge-like structure was observed in females and light brown cysts of all populations but dark brown cysts lacked an underbridge.
