Abstract

The twenty names described by Zetterstedt in the Fanniidae are revised, and lectotypes designated where appropriate. Four new synonyms are proposed: Fannia armata (Meigen, 1826) (syn: albinervis Zetterstedt, 1845; glaucescens Zetterstedt, 1845), Fannia canicularis (Linnaeus, 1761) (syn: impura Zetterstedt, 1838), and Piezura graminicola (Zetterstedt, 1846) (syn: boletorum Rondani, 1866). As a result, two names are raised from synonymy: Fannia lucidula (Zetterstedt, 1860) (for glaucescens of authors [misidentifications]), and Piezura pardalina Rondani, 1866 (for graminicola of authors [misidentifications]).
