Abstract
The second theme of the new antenatal education programme, Preparation for birth and beyond, explores what kind of mother and father expectant parents want to be. Group members are invited to reflect on their own experiences of being parented. They identify how they can create a nurturing environment for their child and what kinds of parenting negatively affect young childreńs ability to learn and to develop positive relationships. This theme also looks at wider family relationships and asks how these will be affected by the arrival of a new baby.
