Abstract
The viscosity of melts from the Bi2O3–B2O3–SiO2 system has been measured in the temperature range of 973–1473 K. The effect of composition on viscosity was investigated. The viscosity of the melt was found to decrease linearly with increasing Bi2O3 content. Comparisons with PbO–B2O3–SiO2 ternary melts were carried out. Empirical equations to estimate viscosity from chemical composition were proposed.
