Abstract
In the Stratigraphische Tabelle von Deutschland 2002 (STD 2002) the Zechstein (Late Permian, Lopingian epoch) has a duration of ca. 7 Ma; Menning (1986) estimated a duration of 5 ± 2 m. y. The Zechstein has been classified as a group. It is subdivided into the Werra Folge (z1), Staßfurt Folge (z2), Leine Folge (z3), Aller Folge (z4), Ohre Folge (z5), Friesland Folge (z6), and Fulda Folge (z7). These Folgen are bounded by quasi-isochronous marker planes.
