Abstract
The equal loudness level contours of 12 normal hearing subjects were measured over the frequency range from 100 to 1000 Hz at loudness levels of 30, 50, and 70 phon. The minimum audible field (MAF) was also determined. While the MAF-data are in line with the results published in ISO 226, the equal loudness contours we measured are systematically higher. At 70 phon our results are in excellent agreement with recent data of Suzuki et al., whereas the recent data of Betke at 30 and 50 phon are well above our results. Our subjectively measured equal loudness contours agree well with the contours calculated by a computer program for calculating loudness published in DIN 45 631.
