Abstract

It has been known that the mass-soft material mechanical model is effective for the modeling of infinitely one-dimensional phononic crystals with locally resonant structures. In this paper, we further verify the validity of the mechanical model for finitely phononic crystal plates with locally resonant structures by the finite difference method. With the model the propagation characteristics of acoustic waves in these plate systems are investigated. An interesting result is that surface acoustic waves cannot exist in these systems. Thus these systems may be useful for cumbering surface acoustic waves.
