Abstract

In reading the current literature one gets the impression that insect control began with DDT in the 1940's. Also, to control pestiferous insects DDT and other synthetic insecticides are applied season-long at high rates to the exclusion of all other control methods and without regard to human health and safety, to adverse environmental effects or to their limitations in controlling insects. To this which is currently becoming widely accepted, we say that it is historically incorrect.
