Abstract
Methods of the use of radar information in applied hydrology (in particular, for calculation of runoff probability) are developed. Examples of treatment and statistical analysis of such information are presented. Operations with matrices of precipitation fields obtained with the help of radars are described. Examples of probability estimation for different precipitation gradations and the quantization of precipitation fields are given. Prospects for application of the limiting intensity method in runoff calculations are discussed. Different procedures are proposed to improve the calculation method for the maximum specific rate of rainfall runoff from small river basins, with the allowance made for the statistics of spatial distributions of the initial variables and parameters.
