Abstract

Editing Web resources has been a common task ever since the hypertext markup language and information resources based on it appeared on the Internet. The problem of editing multipage Web resources with complicated link structure is very important and difficult. An approach to this problem is considered on the basis of the form description language called ProXForms. Software based on this language maintains a link between the client and the server during the entire cycle of data editing: it validates the input data and controls the navigation through pages. The language provides means for describing complex forms and editing arbitrary data types. Specific features of the approach based on ProXForms are discussed; this approach is compared with the XForms project of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The prospects of using ProXForms for integrating enterprise information resources at Moscow State University are considered.
