Abstract

ULCOS (www.ulcos.org) is a unique partnership of European steelmakers, technology and equipment suppliers, institutes and universities. The ULCOS programme aims at cutting the CO2 footprint of the steel industry by 50%. In the present phase of ULCOS several new ironmaking technologies are being investigated at pilot plant scale. In the next phase, starting 2010, further development of selected technologies up to industrial demonstration is foreseen.
