Abstract
Using recent low noise code/phase dual frequency GPS receivers, the widelane carrier phase integer ambiguity (N1-N2) can be efficiently determined, in principle, independent of baseline length and ionosphere bias. On the contrary, the base ambiguities N1 and N2 are not so easily resolved, particularly for long baselines. We take advantage of the fixed widelane ambiguity to improve the preliminary estimated (not yet fixed) base ambiguities in a least squares sense. Using this new method the variances (or the resolution times) of the base ambiguities are most significantly reduced for short baselines. For long baselines the method is not encouraging due to difficulties in eliminating the ionosphere bias.
