Abstract
ON the morning of September 3, 1988, a silver Boeing 747–400 trimmed in red, white, and blue sat ready at the far end of the Edwards Air Force Base runway in California waiting for the signal to initiate the final brake certification test: the 100% maximum energy Rejected Take-Off(RTO).
