Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to propose the integration between decision aiding and fire risk analysis methods. The purpose of this idea is to reduce the resources necessary to carry out a fire risk analysis. This is of great value in situations where the resources available to the analysis are limited. The decision analysis tool adopted was the ELECTRE I, which was applied in the room of origin selection. A case study in the Information Technology Nucleus of a Brazilian institution illustrates a real situation in which the resources to implement a fire risk analysis are limited and how the ELECTRE I is useful to lessen the resources required for such analysis. The results showed that there is a clear preference of the operation room over the other alternatives. Despite, we can vary the concordance and discordance indexes to guarantee this result.
