Abstract
Subjective preference judgements for sound fields simulated by the aid of a computer with various combinations of early reflections and subsequent reverberation were conducted. Results show that the most preferred reverberation time can be calculated by using the autocorrelation function (ACF) of source signals which may be regarded as a kind of “reverberation“ being contained within themselves. Also, it is reconfirmed that the most preferred initial time delay (or scale factor for the dimension of rooms) for each total amplitude of both early reflections and the subsequent reverberation can be determined by the ACF.
