Abstract
Experimental investigations of the field dependence of the linear magnetic birefringence (LMB) in an α-Fe2O3:Ga single crystal are presented. It is established that during crystal magnetization in the basal plane near directions perpendicular to the С2 axes in the region of magnetic field saturation, the LMB changes nonmonotonically. The observed special feature of the field LMB dependence is due to the reorganization of the magnetic α-Fe2O3:Ga structure during magnetization.
