Abstract
Wo aber in der Geschichte der neueren Welt gab es eine Gruppe, zahlenmäßig so gering, kaum eine halbe Million Menschen jeweils, die im Lauf eines einzigen Jahrhunderts der Welt soviel Reichtum an Geist geschenkt hatte wie im Lauf des neunzehnten diese Gruppe deutscher Juden? Heine und Schnitzler, Mendelssohn, Offenbach und Mahler, Karl Marx und Sigmund Freud und Albert Einstein, Wassermann und Ehrlich und Hertz und Haber, konnte man die Leistungen dieser Männer aus unserer Zivilisation wegdenken?
