Abstract

An integration theory of Maxwell's equations for coated lines of different geometrical symmetry groups and local excitation is presented. We cover the treatment of the general case of conductors with elliptic cross sections as well as the plane limiting case. It is shown that the complete electromagnetic field in form of a superposition of the radiation field and the spectrum of surface waves can be obtained from the magnetic tangential field components determined by an integral equation. This equation can be solved iteratively based on the field of a coated plane conductor. The transmission behavior of this special case is investigated in detail depending on geometrical and electro-physical parameters.
