Abstract
The wastewater collection system master planning process frequently employs technological tools in preparing long-term capital improvements plan (CIP). These tools may include hydraulic models, database applications and Geographic information systems (GIS). Fundamentals of these applications are presented in this paper, and their interconnectivity is explored. Several desktop applications developed and implemented in large-scale wastewater master plans are described here, and their advantages in relation to their efficiency and effectiveness are discussed.
