Abstract

The densification process of MgO bearing pellets is investigated in the present work. The experimental results show that there is a densification phenomenon for oxidized pellets during induration process where the structure of product pellets becomes dense and the pore size and porosity of product pellets decreases gradually. MgO addition has a negative effect on the densification process of pellets. As the addition of MgO bearing additive is increased from 0 to 2.0%, the densification ratio of pellets decreases from 46.3 to 28.6%; the pore size increases gradually and porosity of product pellets increases from 18.61 to 24.06%. This study helps to understand and optimize the use of MgO in the whole blast furnace ironmaking process.
