Vitaliano Brancati (1907–1954) was an Italian novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and essayist. He emerged as the leading Italian neorealist author in the years surrounding World War II. His last novel, Paolo il Caldo (Paolo Unbound), was published posthumously.
