Description

In India, as well as in many other countries, men and women have their own role to play for the benefit of the society. Men are said to be the head of the family, while the women care taker for the children and house. This practice has been on for generations, it thereby stands as a draw-back for girls and women in many fields especially education. Since education of boys is considered more important because they are made to look after their parents and family, while the girls would be married out or they are considered as temporal members of the family. This book provides the report based on empirical study conducted in Gulbarga. Here, parents' attitude towards girls and women education is discussed. It can be a resource for the researchers of social science, social workers, and educationists and for those who are interested to study the educational status of women as presumed by their parents.
