《地藏本愿经》中述及供奉地藏菩萨可获得十种利益:土地丰壤、家宅永安、先亡生天、现在益寿、所求遂愿、无水火灾、虚耗辟除、杜绝恶梦、出入神护;加之地藏菩萨为幽冥教主,管辖十殿阎王,也即主宰着人死后的命运。人们往往既会想得到这十种利益,又惧怕死后入地狱受罪。所以,对地藏菩萨的信仰、礼瞻、恭敬一直有增无减……
