Abstract
AbstractCommunity satisfaction is often regarded as an indicator of the quality of living in a local community. The author examines factors influencing community satisfaction in small rural communities of the Czech Republic. The contextual nature of this concept is taken into account. Previous analyses of factors influencing the inhabitants' satisfaction firmly emphasised subjective evaluations of various community characteristics. Objective contextual attributes of communities and localities were less often emphasised. Moreover, situations outside the USA and the UK have rarely been investigated. The author focused his research on the effect contextual characteristics of communities have on satisfaction in a Central European country. The analysis shows that while the subjective evaluations of community characteristics are a very good predictor of community satisfaction, their relationship to objective community characteristics is unclear.
