The 47 papers selected for the May 2011 conference are primarily written by Chinese academics and reflect China's ongoing efforts to integrate alternative energy technologies into building projects and their growing power grid. Building material studies evaluate the properties of fiber-reinforced concrete, self-compacting concrete, bamboo charcoal PET, rice straw brick, and a flexible suspension tension structure. A pair of papers from Malaysian engineering professors describes two house designs for cooling homes while reducing electricity use. Other topics include fly ash research trends, fuzzy decision methods for choosing partners, digital network interior design, traditional mountain houses, earth cave dwellings, ecological agriculture for urban farming, and cinema landscape design.
