A major goal of this special collection of 47 peer-reviewed papers was to gather together the current knowledge of academic scientists, engineers and industrial researchers and have them share their experiences and research results concerning every aspect of green building technologies and materials, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. An interesting guide to this increasingly relevant subject.Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS). The 47 papers selected for the May 2011 conference are primarily written by Chinese academics and reflect China's ongoing efforts to integrate alternative energy technologies into building projects and their growing power grid. Building material studies evaluate the properties of fiber-reinforced concrete, self-compacting concrete, bamboo charcoal PET, rice straw brick, and a flexible suspension tension structure. A pair of papers from Malaysian engineering professors describes two house designs for cooling homes while reducing electricity use. Other topics include fly ash research trends, fuzzy decision methods for choosing partners, digital network interior design, traditional mountain houses, earth cave dwellings, ecological agriculture for urban farming, and cinema landscape design.
