For its first sitting outside of Brazil, the conference drew some 60 presentations from Brazil, Mexico, and France, and 24 were selected for publication. They cover alloys and ceramics, nanomaterials, and synthesis and properties. Specific topics include the effect of adding nickel on the microstructure and mechanical properties of aluminum-based alloys, the synthesis and annealing effects on the structure of alumina by polyol mediated processes, the nanostructure evolution of zinc oxide in ultra-fast microwave sintering, the synthesis and electrochemical characterization of platinum-based materials supported in a carbon nano-tube matrix, and the physical and mathematical study of the electro-remediation process in a cylindrical cell.
