Description

Materials such as molten salts and liquid metals have become more and more important in the field of nuclear engineering, solar and thermal energy, fuel cells and related fields. The physical properties of molten salts are closely related to their ionic liquid structure and it is essential to know this structure for the systematic understanding of the physical properties. This book presents x-ray diffraction studies of many currently interesting melts. An understanding of the respective experimental findings and their interpretation is facilitated by various figures and tables. An introductory chapter discusses notions and theoretical concepts underlying this experimental technique. Also, experimental set-up and the analysis of gained data are summarized. A special feature of this volume is the complete 50-page documentation of experimental data in the appendix.
