Abstract

Rectus sheath hematoma is a rare condition, often occurring in the elderly, anticoagulated patient, and is usually man-aged conservatively. Complications include hemodynamic instability due to blood loss and abdominal compartment syndrome, and can, in rare cases, be fatal. We present a case of an unusual complication of an unusual condition – fistulation of a rectus sheath hematoma into the bladder – and describe how this may be successfully managed.
