Abstract
Treatment of deprotonated N,N′‐bis‐(4‐methyl‐2‐benzothiazolyl)‐2,6‐pyridicarboxamide (L2−) with CuCl2·2H2O yields the mononuclear title complex, CuL(H2O) or [Cu(C23H15N5O2S2)(H2O)]. The CuII atom adopts a distorted square‐planar coordination geometry, binding to two deprotonated amide N atoms, the pyridine N atom and the water O atom. In the crystal structure, weak C—H...O and C—H...S hydrogen bonds, and C—H...π and π–π interactions stabilize the crystal structure.
