Abstract
This study is a contribution to the Critical Reading Classroom. It focuses on the students’ interaction while creating appropriate responses to interview questions. The students are also expected to create the interview questions as a demonstration of their understanding of a character in the literary text or reading material. This study shows how deeper understanding of the reading material is brought about through such an activity. Creating interview questions as though the character in the reading material was present focuses on the various types of information that the students feel they want to find out or know more about the character in the context of the story. The responses to the interview questions show the inferences the students are making about the character according to the extent that they know about the character in the context of the story.
