Abstract
The World Anti-Doping Agency publishes an annually reviewed list of prohibited substances in sport. Modern doping control analysis is continuously faced with new target analytes, which have to be analysed from different biological matrices (urine and blood). The analytical methods have to be sensitive, specific and, thus, mass spectrometric assays are largely favored. As examples for newly prohibited substances several target analytes are presented: small peptides (<2 kDa, e.g., Gonadorelin), larger peptides (>2 kDa, e.g., mechano growth factors), small interfering RNA (siRNA), and xenon. Some important physiological effects of these compounds and principles of respective analytical procedures are presented.
