Abstract

The most representative infectious pathology in dental medicine is the one of the dental pulp, located in the endodontic space, caused by its contamination with bacteria. The aim of the study presented was to determine the effect of calcium hydroxide on infections of the teeth and the periodontal tissue. The method used consists of a mechanical treatment, which removes the content of the endodontic space, and filling it with a paste obtained by mixing powder of calcium hydroxide with physiological serum, in order to disinfect and prevent bacterial growth. The conclusion of our study was that after a variable number of sessions of changing the calcium hydroxide paste, we noticed clinical signs that the infection was treated, and we could continue the conservative treatment of the teeth, saving them from extraction.
