Abstract
Purpose - The purpose of this article is to describe recent publications designed to assist librarians and other information professionals in understanding copyright law in an academic context. Design/methodology/approach - The article highlights some of the more important and/or contentious areas noted within the publications. Findings - The article focuses on fair use, and the variance of its interpretations. Originality/value - The article provides a broader understanding of the ways in which copyright law affects digitization efforts.
